Moderation of Forums

The VulnerabilityNet forum moderators have the following duties:

• Admitting new members to a forum

• Checking and enabling new postings to a forum

• Changing the posting permissions for users.

When a new user requests permission for access to a given forum, their request will be handled manually by the forum moderator or by a site administrator; giving permission for access will generate an email to the originator. In the same way, on 'Restricted' forums each submission will be checked before it is allowed into public view.

One aspect of this way of handling postings, is that any new user must have a valid email address, and will need to check incoming messages there in order to achieve access.

Bear in mind that if a posting is deemed inappropriate to a particular Restricted or Public forum, it may be hidden from view after the initial submission and moderation.
